Novels

During their enrichment journey, students will read multiple novels and discover new places and cultures through the settings of these books. Although the list is subject to change, students will most likely read the following novels in each grade of enrichment:

3rd Grade:
From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg
The Family Under the Bridge by Natalie Savage Carlson
Dancing Home by Alma Flor Ada and Gabriel M. Zubizarreta

4th Grade:
The Cay by Theodore Taylor
Banner in the Sky by James Ramsey Ullman
Homesick: My Own Story by Jean Fritz
Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett

5th Grade:
The Wright 3 by Blue Balliett
The Egypt Game by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park
The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis

NOTE: Students are encouraged not to read these books ahead of time so they can all experience the stories together in enrichment for the first time. However, it is not a problem if a child has already read one of the books prior to entering enrichment. Students do not need to purchase these books; they will borrow copies from the enrichment library.
